Part 2: Nauvoo.

It's fall break and we're on our way to Nauvoo. We are stopped by a train. In the meantime, this semi truck FAILED. It pulled up too close to the train tracks and got the smack down when he tried to cross. If you can't tell, the candy cane arm is laying in the truck's hood.

In the car I was dying! I have a fear of getting killed by trains and I was certain that this truck was about to get wiped out. Then the train was going to derail and then smash us all!!!! Fortunately all survived!

We continued on our merry way.

We arrived in Nauvoo around 330 or 4. I wasn't supposed to be at the temple until 5:30pm. We talked and chatted with the Ivie Family. We also played with the little children that live there. They are super cute.

It's 5:30pm and we're at the temple. Jeff and Alisha Hillam went with me. Alisha was my escort. I was in the 7:00pm session on October 10, 2008.

After the session was over I was refreshed and excited! I loved the temple. My experience there was filled with the Spirit.

We were in Nauvoo until Tuesday morning-- so I was able to go a bunch. I had family names with me, so that was fun. Going to the temple makes me love family history a lot more...

This weekend was Brittany's first temple trip! On Saturday (morning, I think) we did baptisms. She had a good time. She spent a lot of time around the temple reading the scriptures. She is really an amazing girl with a growing testimony!

Nauvoo is filled with adventures every time we go. I think one of the favorite adventures was when we were cellar searching and we found a "door fail." Watch before you step....

When we were driving to Keokuk for pizza (all 6 of us in Jeff's 4 seat belt Element) Alisha asked to borrow my phone... and proceeded to text all my friends "I'm going to KEOKUK!!"

I was supposed to have my mission call that weekend (didn't get it) and people kind of assumed that is what that meant. I can't blame them. BUT the responses were awesome... my favorite being the Purdue elders'. They called a few people and had them look it up on the internet. And then got mad when they found out it was a joke.

We also played night games. I am terrible at explaining it... but if you want an idea: Go to a park at night. (The more equipment the better) And then make an obstacle course while playing hide and seek. Its pretty much the best thing ever. We played twice... the second time it was raining. That made it REALLY fun because I slid around and I never do that ever!!! I was playing "hardcore."

On the way home, our car went to Carthage Jail. It was a good time. I've been a few times... the tour gets a little old. BUT I still really enjoy the story and I was with Brittany. It was her first time going, so it was fun to step back into history with her.

Overall, it was an eventful weekend... and it wasn't even over. We were excited to get home because I had a mission call sitting and waiting for me in the mailbox.
